A Virgin Affogato

Ever since we started Virgin Joe, we knew we had to release a decaf. Sometimes, you crave the rich taste of coffee but want to skip the caffeine. We made a decaf that actually delivers, so you can enjoy your favorite drink day or night without wrecking your sleep schedule or sending your adrenals into overdrive.
Yes, It’s Still Virgin
We craft our decaf with the same high-quality ingredients as our signature Classic Italian blend. Virgin Joe’s Italian Decaf is truly wellness in a cup. Infused with Himalayan pink salt, organic Jerusalem artichoke, and the antioxidants naturally found in the organic coffee, each sip supports both your taste buds and your body.
Bold and Rich
We know the frustration of decaf that falls flat—weak, watery, or just plain bland. This is because the process of removing the caffeine can strip away some of the rich, complex flavors of the beans. Additionally, many decafs use a lighter roast, which often leads to a milder, less bold taste. We intentionally use a darker roast for our decaf, so you can skip caffeine without compromising flavor.
Chemical Free
Most decaf coffees undergo a chemical decaffeination process, where solvents like methylene chloride or ethyl acetate are used to strip caffeine from the beans. While these methods are effective, they can also remove some of the flavor compounds that give coffee its richness and expose us to synthetic chemicals (ew).
At Virgin Joe, we take a different approach. Our decaf is made using the Swiss Water Process, a 100% chemical-free method that preserves the integrity of the beans. Here’s how it works:
1. Pure water is used to gently extract caffeine from the coffee beans while keeping all the desirable flavors intact.
2. The caffeine is removed using a special carbon filtration system, rather than chemicals.
3. The beans are then dried and carefully roasted, maintaining their rich, full-bodied taste.
This process not only results in a cleaner, healthier cup, but also allows the natural tasting notes of black currant, cocoa, and molasses to shine through.
Enjoy Your Late Night Affogatos and Espresso Martinis
We tweaked our recipes so you can enjoy them and (possibly) go to bed afterwards?

Why Cold Brew is Superior to Iced Coffee (Especially Virgin Joe Cold Brew)
If you've ever found yourself staring at a coffee shop menu wondering, "Wait, what’s the difference between iced coffee and cold brew?"—you’re not alone. At first glance, they both seem like chilled coffee options, but the reality is, one reigns supreme. And that, dear caffeine lover, is cold brew. More specifically, Virgin Joe Cold Brew. Let’s break it down.
1. Smoothness Over Bitterness
Iced coffee is just hot coffee that’s been cooled down, usually by pouring it over ice. This quick temperature shock can make it taste bitter and acidic. Cold brew, on the other hand, is brewed slowly over 12-24 hours, resulting in a naturally sweeter, smoother flavor. Virgin Joe’s proprietary brewing process extracts only the best flavors from our organic coffee, leaving behind the harsh acidity that can make iced coffee a teeth-clenching experience.
2. Lower Acidity, Happier Stomach
Speaking of acidity, traditional iced coffee can be tough on sensitive stomachs due to its high acid content. Cold brew, however, is significantly lower in acidity because it never undergoes the rapid heat extraction process that releases acidic compounds. Virgin Joe Cold Brew is even smoother thanks to the added touch of organic Jerusalem Artichoke inulin, which promotes gut health while making your coffee experience easier on digestion.
3. More Caffeine, More Power
If you’re looking for a caffeine boost that doesn’t hit like a jittery rollercoaster, cold brew is your best bet. Because it’s brewed with a higher coffee-to-water ratio, it packs more caffeine per ounce than iced coffee. Virgin Joe’s elevated cold brew concentrate takes it even further, giving you full control over how strong you want your cup. Want a mild boost? Dilute it. Need to power through a Monday? Pour it straight over ice and get ready to go.
4. No Watered-Down Disappointment
One of the biggest letdowns of iced coffee? The moment it turns into a diluted mess as the ice melts. Because cold brew is brewed stronger and served as a concentrate, you can customize it without worrying about it turning into weak coffee-flavored water. Virgin Joe’s rich, bold formula ensures every sip is just as good as the first.
5. The Added Benefits of Himalayan Salt
Virgin Joe isn’t just any cold brew—it’s enhanced with pink Himalayan salt, which helps bring out the natural sweetness of the coffee while adding a smooth, well-rounded finish. Unlike standard iced coffee, which can taste flat or overly acidic, Virgin Joe Cold Brew delivers a balanced, flavorful experience with every sip.
The Verdict? Cold Brew (Especially Virgin Joe) Wins Every Time.
Next time you’re deciding between iced coffee and cold brew, remember this: quality brewing makes all the difference. And with Virgin Joe, you’re choosing a smoother, stronger, and more refined coffee experience.
Till we meet again,
XOXO, Virgin Joe 💋
